Facts about Saint Bede the Venerable
The name Bede means "to bid, command"
Bede was ordained a deacon at the young age of 19 and was ordained a priest at 32.
During his lifetime, he wrote over 60 books.
It is said that Saint Bede was a teacher as well as a writer and he enjoyed music and reciting poetry.
There is speculation that his final words were "Glory be to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit"
Saint Bede is famous for writing Bede's Death Song, as well as The Ecclesiastical History of the English People. This series of books began with Caesar's invasion in 55 BC and ended with the modern days of Saint Bede.

Unfurl the sails, and let God steer us where He will.
I was no longer the center of my life and therefore I could see God in everything.
Christ is the Morning Star,
who, when the night of this world is past,
gives to his saints the promise of the light of life,
and opens everlasting day.
We abide in God insofar as we do not sin.

Splendor of Light Eternal.

Come and waken us from the greyness of our apathy.
and renew in us your gift of hope.
Grant us Your light, O Lord,
So that the darkness of our hearts,
may wholly pass away and we may come at last,
to the light of Christ.
For Christ is that morning star,
who, when the night of this world has passes,
brings to His saints, the promised light of life
