Students who attend public or private (non-Catholic) school, in grades Kindergarten - 5th.
Pre-K aged Atrium is at a limited number capacity on select Sunday mornings of 12 children.
Level 1 CGS Atrium is also available on a set schedule of Wednesdays, throughout the school year, October-May.
Level 1 and Level 2 CGS Atrium sessions are also available on a set schedule of two sessions per month, in the late afternoon, throughout the school year, September-May.
*Children who receive their "Systemic" faith formation from a private Catholic school or a Diocese-approved home school curriculum grade are asked to let the Parish CFF Coordinator know where/what program they are using.
Sunday AM Children's Faith Formation meets from September-May, 9:30-10:45 am in-between the morning Masses.
We ask that all parents/guardians use the "car-line drop-off" on Sunday mornings, which opens at 9:15 am, through the small Southside parking lot, to the right side of the church.
Pick up of the children is at 10:45 am, from the Kaplan Parish Hall. We close with announcements and prayer with the parents/guardians. Each child is signed out through the child's catechist. This is for all of the children's safety.
All Atrium - 5th-grade children are escorted down to the ministry level, where they go to their color-coded grade level room. Their catechists will meet them in the classroom.
All 6-8th graders will meet in Kaplan Parish Hall, check-in, and meet their CORE team leader.
Sunday AM CFF is where the children can come together by grade level and grow closer to Jesus, learn about the many wonderful aspects of our Catholic faith and Mass, learn about our Liturgical Year and participate in fun class religious activities. Sunday AM CFF is facilitated by adult catechists (CORE Team), including parishioners, William and Mary students, and high school teen leaders.
If your child has been baptized, is at least 7 years of age, and is ready to prepare to receive their First Reconciliation & First Holy Communion, please visit our Sacramental Preparation Program page for more information about the Parish program.
"Jesus formed his disciples by making known to them the various dimensions of the Kingdom of God. He entrusted to them 'the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven' (Mt. 13:11); he taught them how to pray (Lk. 11:2); he opened his 'meek and humble heart' to them (Mt. 11:29). The fundamental task of catechesis is to achieve the same objective: the formation of disciples of Jesus Christ."
- National Directory of Catechesis, 59.
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program is a Montessori-based method of introducing young children to the love and protection of Jesus Christ as the Good Shepherd. The hands-on, age-appropriate learning techniques, or works, are developed from the eyes of a child, so children can encounter Jesus in a personal way. Saint Bede has a Level I Atrium that supports our Children's Faith Formation and Sacramental Preparation programs.
If you would like to enroll your child in CGS, please contact Rita Hipple.
If you choose to homeschool your child for their weekly faith formation, please contact our Children's Faith Formation office, so we may have an accurate record of all children in Saint Bede parish who are receiving faith formation.
