Music Ministry - Ensembles
ST. BEDE CHORALE
The CHORALE includes people from high school
age upward who like to sing four part choral music from the classics
to the contemporary. This group is primarily accompanied by the pipe
organ and usually sings at the Sunday 9:00 mass. They will even
be robed in the fall of 2008! Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings at
7:30.
ST. BEDE ENSEMBLE
SINGERS
The ENSEMBLE SINGERS usually lead the music ministry
at the Sunday 11:00 mass. They sing music of a more modern liturgical
style with the accompaniment of piano, guitar, percussion and other
instruments. Singers and instrumentalists are always welcome. Rehearsals
are Thursdays at 6:00.
BELLS OF ST. BEDE
The BELLS OF ST. BEDE handbell choir is a group of musicians dedicated to mastering the techniques of good handbell ringing. The group is open to any new men and women who would like to learn about handbells and have some note-reading ability. Ringing handbells requires good hand and arm mobility and the endurance to stand for an hour rehearsal. The handbell ringers play at a Sunday mass about once a month. As of the fall of 2007 the choir will rehearse from 6:00 to 7:00 on Tuesday evenings.
CANTORS
CANTORS are not soloists, but singers who proclaim
God’s word in song such as the psalm and gospel acclamations,
and often serve as music leaders when there is no vocal ensemble present.
Cantors should possess a clear, accurate voice to execute their ministry.
Those interested in the cantor ministry must contact the parish music
director to arrange for an informal audition.
TIDEWATER INTERGENERATIONAL ORCHESTRA
The TIDEWATER INTERGENERATIONAL ORCHESTRA provides
an outlet and opportunity for string players of all ages to play together
and learn from each other. Rehearsals are clustered around the performance
dates with advance distribution of the music. They present frequent
concerts and programs in our church and around the community. For more

YOUTH ENSEMBLE
The YOUTH ENSEMBLE leads the music at the 5:00 Sunday
afternoon mass and their numbers also include some adult folks. They
rehearse on Wednesday evenings and also provide musical accompaniment
for the monthly Wednesday evening eucharistic adoration service. Their

INSTRUMENTALISTS
INSTRUMENTALISTS are encouraged to speak with the parish music director about your musical talents and to determine how your talents can be best used in the music ministry at St. Bede Church.
CHILDREN’S MUSIC MINISTRY
St. Bede Parish also offers opportunities
for children to be involved in music. The children’s singing
choir (The Angel Choir) sings for Sunday mass monthly at the designated
Family Mass. This choir is for children from second grade through grade
six. They rehearse on Sunday afternoons. The Children’s Handbell
Choir rehearses on Thursday afternoons and also plays frequently at
