Dear friends in Christ:
This month of May concludes our year-long “Diamond Jubilee” celebrating
75 years of Catholic worship and life here in the greater Williamsburg
area.
On May 18, the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity, a special concert
entitled “Music
of Our Faith” will be held
at 2 pm in our church featuring choral music sung by the Adult Chorale,
the Ensemble Singers, and the Angel Choir. This is a special program
to celebrate the parish's 75th Anniversary year. All
are welcome!
On May 25, the Feast of Corpus Christi, St. Bede Parish
will close this year of Jubilee with receptions after the Sunday
Masses and the presentation of a commemorative book that looks back
over those years from the dedication of our original church on Richmond
Road and Harrison Avenue.
We also are celebrating First Holy Communion
for 114 of our youngsters at the weekend Masses in May.
Congratulations to our first Communicants and their families! By
the end of this year, we will have celebrated 125 First Communions
for our children.
On Friday, May 23, Bishop Francis DiLorenzo will celebrate a regional
Mass of Confirmation for 75 teens from St. Bede, 16 teens from St.
Joan of Arc, and 7 teens from St. Olaf. God bless all those to be
confirmed in the seven-fold gifts of the Holy Spirit!
